VILLAGE HOUSEMAID II
As he lamented to his mother, she attempted to console him. But her words cut deeper, "She's getting married to another man." His mother's gentle tone belied the blow. She showed him the invitation card, highlighting the groom's wealth, good looks, and prosperity. "He'll take good care of her," she said, trying to reassure him.
But the words felt like salt in his wounds. His heart sank further as his mother showed him pre-wedding photos. His eyes widened in shock - the groom was his friend's brother, the same man who had visited with his friend months ago. Ironically, he had spoken highly of her to his friend, even recommending her to his brother.
His mother's next words felt like a cruel twist: "You thought she'd remain your house help, but God had other plans. At least you're her destiny helper." The words paralyzed him, and he looked at his mother with pain and agony, his heart heavy with regret.
