En route to Benin City from Ekpoma, for the first time in my life, I saw a soldier begging for money; he even gladly accepted #50/100 naira(if I'm not mistaken). Two things I picked from this scenario: 

1. He was content because the money was worth a little based on the current state of the economy (although my vehicle will likely not be the first he’d take from, and also not the last that will go through that way).

2. It showed the level of suffering these uniformed men face. 

Consequently, the begging is gradually downgrading them. It is well.
