LABARINA - DESPERATELY WICKED

"Yesterday, I witnessed a concerning scene. A young man and girl were conversing, but when he saw me approaching, he quickly changed the subject. I sensed something was off, and his guilty expression confirmed my suspicions. I hope the girl isn't taken in by his deceitful tactics. It's disturbing to think about what he might have intended to achieve.

I often wonder why we pursue things that don't bring lasting fulfillment. Chasing after fleeting pleasures or harmful desires can lead us down a dangerous path. The Bible says, 'The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked' (Jeremiah 17:9). This verse resonated with me when I read a horrifying story about a 14-year-old boy who brutally murdered a 4-year-old for a mere 50,000 naira. The value of a human life is immeasurable, and no amount of money can justify such evil.

It's a stark reminder that our hearts can lead us astray if we don't submit them to God. No matter how good we think we are, our motivations can be selfish and harmful if not guided by the Holy Spirit. May we seek to cultivate pure hearts and pursue what truly brings lasting joy and fulfillment."
