LABARINA: CYCLE

LABARINA - CYCLE

"Traveling from Epoma to Benin and then to Warri, we encountered terrible road conditions. I had planned to take some photos, due to the poor state of the road but I forgot. What struck me was that people had started collecting money on the streets, setting up roadblocks, and asking for cash. They may claim it was for maintaining the roads, but it seemed dubious.

"As we navigated through the villages, searching for better routes, I noticed that even young children were begging. It was as if they had learned from the adults around them. One person mentioned that the collected money would be used to improve the roads, but he also cynically said it would be shared among the collectors and squandered.

"What struck me most was that the children were also begging, and it made me realize that they will likely adopt the same behavior as their fathers and elders. It's a concerning cycle, where the younger generation learns from the actions of the older one. I hope that somehow, something can be done to break this cycle and bring about positive change."
