LABARINA - CHARACTER & BEAUTY
"I want to emphasize that a person's beauty is not just about their physical appearance. I saw a lady who looked attractive from afar, but when we passed each other, she struggled to say 'good morning.' This reminded me of the Itsekiri saying, 'character is beauty.' A good character is what truly makes a person beautiful.
While physical appearance can be pleasing, it's the character that shines from within that truly matters. A person with a good character will earn respect and favor, even if they may not be considered conventionally beautiful. On the other hand, a person with a bad character will be unattractive, regardless of their physical appearance.
The Bible supports this idea in Proverbs 21:9, which says, 'It is better to live in a corner of the roof than in a house with a quarrelsome wife.' This illustrates the importance of a good character over physical appearance. A virtuous woman, as described in Proverbs 31:10-31, is one who exemplifies good character, kindness, and wisdom.
Let's prioritize building our character, as it is the true measure of beauty. Physical appearances are fleeting, but a good character will endure and earn us respect and favor. May God bless us as we strive to cultivate a beautiful character."
